Wm. M. O. Dawson Governor of W. Va. Born at Bloomington. Md. May 21, 1853; Removed to Preston Co. W. Va. 1858.  Educated in public schools.  Worked in Cooper Shop and Clerk in Country Store; studied at night; became editor Preston Journal, 1873;  Elected State Senate, 1880; Re-elected 1884; 12 years Chairman Republican State Committee; Secretary of State, 1896 - 1900 - 1904; Elected Governor of W. Va. 1904  Present incumbent (1905)  Republican.  Member of Presbyterian Church.
