Central Glass Co. Organized first savings bank in
State; Pres. of same. Dir. in number manufacturing
concerns; heavy oil producer. A Republican.
Ex-Pres. City Council. Elected State Senator 1882;
re-elected 1886. Appointed 1897 Commissioner of Internal
Revenue by Pres. McKinley. Elected U. S. Senator 1899;
Re-elected 1905. Member Executive Com. Nat. Republican
Committee since 1888.
