New Hampshire History and State Facts
New Hampshire was named by Sir Ferdinand
Gorges, in remembrance of Hampshire, England. New Hampshire was
first settled around 1627 near Dover. It is bounded on the South
by Massachusetts (S), on the West by Vermont, on the Northwest by the
Canadian province of Quebec, and on the East by Maine and the Atlantic
Ocean.
