NANNIE GASKINS 1856 Possibly Flemingsburg, Kentucky WARNER SMITH 1879 Kentucky Children: TOM SMITH (b. 1879).
Nannie Gaskins Smith is my great-great aunt. She is listed on the 1880 Fleming County, Kentucky Census as 24 and living in the household of her mother, Mahala Gaskins. Aside from her four sisters, also living with them are her husband, Warner Smith (age 27), and their son, Tom (age 1). I would like to know if they had other children and if there are any living descendants that I can contact. If you can provide any information at all, please contact me..

MAHALA GASKINS 1827 Unknown Unknown Not known if there was a marriage First Census: 1870 Fleming County, KY.
Children: Nannie (b. 1856), Lille (b. 1859), Bettie (b. 1862), Pauline (b. 12/10/1864), and Belle (b. 1869).
My great-great grandmother, Mahala Gaskins, is listed n the 1870 and 1880 Census records for Fleming County, Kentucky. I have not actually seen the 1870 records, only the index. On the 1880 records, she is listed as the head of her household. At that time, she was 56 years old and is recorded as Mulatto. Her daughters were living with her at the time and are also listed as Mulatto. Also living with the family was the oldest daugther, Nannie's husband, Warner Smith (age 27), and their son, Tom (age 1). Because there is a great possibility that Mahala had been a slave, I've been unable to determine whether or not she was married. In either event, I would like to know about the father of the girls. (The name Squire K. Ferguson has come up as a possibility, but I have been unable to find him on any records other than the family bible.) Would also like to know about the fate of my great grandmother Pauline's other sisters and what happened to their offspring. Eventually, I would love to make contact with any family members still living, whether in Kentucky or elsewhere. If you have any information that could help, please don't hesitate to contact me.
