Mary Freeman 1850 Douglas County Missouri or North Carolina Charles Jackson Johnston Douglas County Missouri, Albany Nebraska, Oregon Mary Freeman is listed on my great-grandmother's delayed birth certificate as being born 1850, Douglas County Missouri. There are several Mary Freeman's listed in the 1860 Douglas County census, but one in particular fits the birth year I have. According to that census, Mary Freeman was the daughter of H.P. Freeman (possiblye Humphrey P. Freeman) and Eliza Freeman. . . Mary's father, H.P. is grouped with the family of Aaron Posey Freeman from Rowan County North Carolina, and it is assumed that H.P. is the son of Aaron Freeman and Allabeth Ball, but that connection has not yet been proven.. . Mary Freeman married Charles Jackson Johnston (b. 1830, Sidney, Shelby County Ohio) sometime before 1881, which is the year my great-grandmother Laura Bell Johnston (b. 1881 Albany, Harlan county Nebraska) was born. It is unknown at this time where Charles and Mary met and married, and it us unknown at this time how they ended up in Albany, Harlan County Nebraska, and then later in Oregon.
