Annie Blake "Sept. 1, 1888" New York New York "Annie Blake was baptized at Immaculate Conception Church in Irvington, New York. She was sent to the Sisters of Mercy in Tarrytown, New York on April 20, 1896 after her mother passed away. Her younger brothers, Thomas and Edward Joseph, were also sent there. She was discharged on Oct. 2, 1896. I located her in the 1900 census in Westchester County, working as a domestic in the home of Mr. Wilson McCleve in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York, but have been unable to find any other information on her. She had a younger sister, Mary, who was sent to the New York Foundling Hospital in New York City. Mary was subsequently adopted from the New York Foundling Hospital. They had the following children: Oscar - 1892, Otis - 1894, Whiteford -1897, Claudus - 1899, Eula - 1902, Bessie - 1904, and Ora - 1910. Mary died on July 5, 1918. I have found her in the Camden County 1850 Census as head of household of three daughters, while her husband, Daniel Holder was found in the Jefferson County 1850 Census. I don't have a maiden name for Charlotte, or any names of her children. I have been told that her family owned land on Cumberland Island. I'm not sure if she left Daniel when he enlisted in the Seminole Indian Wars, or if he went to Florida to set up a home for his family when he purchased 80 acres in 1834.
