Elizabeth was (not documented) reportedly born in South Carolina about 1775. She married my ancestor, Reuben H. Hamby, son of John, in 1801, in Wilkes County, North Carolina, where both families were farmers and small landowners. William Mitchell travelled with several families, many of them Hambys, to Southeastern Missouri in 1833. Though Elizabeth Mahala and her husband Reuben H. moved to Daddy's Creek in Morgan County, North Carolina in 1855, William Mitchell stayed on in Missouri and I assume at that time his age to be in the 70's. I have been unable to locate any death info on him in Missouri and don't know what county he lived in. I have also hit dead ends in finding how this Mitchell family came to this country.
