Mercy Taylor abt. 1735 "of Exeter, New Hampshire" Benjamin Folsom abt. 1760 "Deerfield, Rockingham County, New Hampshire and Mt. Vernon, Kennebec County, Maine" "Mercy (c1735- ) is believed to be a descendant of William Taylor of Exeter, says the 1938 Folsom Genealogy. GDMNH says a Mercy Taylor of Exeter ""accused"" Henry Steel, also of Exeter, in 1734. I believe this Mercy was a daughter of William Taylor and Margaret Bean. She was alive in 1734, but dead by March 1736 for she is not mentioned in William Taylor's will of that date. I believe she died after giving birth to a baby girl in 1735, that this baby was named Mercy Taylor for her mother, and was raised by her aunt Margaret Taylor Sanborn (1688-1771) and her husband Tristram (1684-1771), of Kingston, New Hampshire, a town adjoining Exeter. One fact supporting this belief: the first child born to Benjamin Folsom and Mercy Taylor in 1761 was named Tristram Sanborn Folsom. Another son was named Peter Sanborn Folsom, the same given name as a son of Tristram Sanborn.
Looking for anything to support or refute this belief.
