1871. Educated in public schools of Connecticut, Hudson River
Institute, and Dickinson College. Taught in the public schools,
Connecticut, 1888 - 1889; teacher of mathematics, Williamsport, Pa.; 1893 -
1894; Vice Principal Dickinson College Preparatory School, 1894 - 1898;
Principal of the same institution 1898 - 1902; Headmaster, 1902 - 1904;
Principal Harrisburg High School, 1904 - 1905; Superintendent of schools,
Harrisburg, Pa., 1905 to the present time.
Member of the Phi Beta Kappa
Society, the N.E. A., and at present chairman of the Executive Committee of
the Department of Superintendence Pennsylvania State Educational
Association. Has written papers on "Arithmetic in the Preparatory
School," "Moral Instruction in the School," and other
pedagogical subjects.
