Born in Indiana,
1871. Attended country schools, completing the work in the
grades when 13 years old. Followed this with three years in the
township high school at Prairie Creek, Ind. Entered Indiana
State Normal School, 1888. After five years of teaching in the
country, town and township schools, graduated from the Indiana State
Normal School, 1895. Taught mathematics in Terre haute High
School four years. Did special work in mathematics in Chicago
University. Graduated in mathematics at Indiana University.,
1900. Assistant Professor of mathematics in Indiana State Normal
School six years; elected Assistant Superintendent of city
schools, Terre Haute, Ind. March 1906; became Superintendent of
city schools, Terre Haute, Ind. August, 1906.
Connected with the
educational movements of the state for nearly twenty years.
