• Maine Genealogical Society
  was founded in 1976 to collect, exchange, preserve, and publish genealogical records, related documents, and information; and to promote and encourage interest and scholarship in genealogy and family history of the State of Maine. 
      
• Allagash Historical Society  
  was founded on April 9,1975 by a group of people under the leadership of Edith Kelly who continues as the president of the Society today. A committee was formed, officers and directors were chosen, and the Society was established as a non-profit organization with the sole purpose of preserving the history of the town of Allagash and its people.
    
• Hancock Genealogical Society 
  was founded in 1986, to offer our members sources of information and research ideas while working on their family genealogies.
    
• Maine Franco-American Genealogical Society
  is primarily a self-help genealogical research library dedicated to assisting individuals in discovering their family's history and thus a greater sense of self.    
    
• Pejepscot Historical Society 
  serves the Pejepscot region of Brunswick, Topsham and Harpswell, Maine. Established in 1888, it is one of Maine's oldest historical organizations, maintaining three museums and a comprehensive research collection.
    
• Readfield Historical Society and Museum 
  is located in the old schoolhouse on Route 17 at Readfield Depot. You are welcome to attend scheduled meetings.  Visitors may tour the building or do historical research by appointment.
